Brothers and sisters, 5/6
“The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” Can you say that in your heart? I think it is easy for us to say, “The LORD gave! Blessed be the name of the LORD!” But if the heart is not rooted in God, I believe it is impossible to say: “The LORD hath taken away, blessed be the name of the LORD!”
“God’s taking” can move us by faith into deeper, richer storehouses of inward joy and divine glory. Will you let Him? Will you let Him take what you cling to? Let the godly saint, George Mueller, encourage you, “Our heavenly Father never takes anything from His children unless He means to give them something better.”
Thinking of heart issues,
Todd
BTW, pray for our country today. It has been set aside as a national day of prayer.
Our country needs true believers today to pray, men and women with right truth in their heads and humble submissiveness in their hearts.
Fifty years ago today, May 6, 1954, Robert Bannister ran with all his might, shattering the four-minute mile barrier on a cinder track field. The time clock read 3:59.4. A finish line photograph reveals the moment - his lungs heaving, his mouth wide open, his head tilted upward, and his eyes closed. Give that kind of passion to God today in your prayer. We have the example of those in Acts. "And they continued stedfastly . . . in prayers." |
